Guild Sanctum — How To Play

Everything you need to know about guilds, paladins, combat and the world map

Pre-Alpha — Mechanics may change. Expect bugs!

What Are Guilds?

Guilds are groups of players who band together to claim territory, complete missions, and fight rival guilds on the world map. When you join or create a guild, you gain access to the Guild Map — a shared world where every guild member has a presence.

  • Create a Guild — Use the Create tab to start your own guild (costs shards). You become the guild leader.
  • Join a Guild — Browse existing guilds in the World Map tab and request to join.
  • Guild Leader — The leader’s home becomes the guild anchor (territory center). If the leader’s home is destroyed, leadership transfers to the strongest member.

Placing Your Home

Once you’re in a guild, you must place your Paladin Home on the world map. This is your base of operations.

  • Double-click any open spot on the map to place your home.
  • You cannot place your home inside another guild’s territory circle (the coloured dashed ring around enemy homes).
  • It’s recommended to place near your guild members for defense support and faster healing near ally bases.
  • If your home is destroyed, you’ll need to re-place it (no shard cost).

Movement & Travel

Your paladin can travel across the world map to attack enemies, accept missions, or explore.

  • Move — Double-click anywhere on the map to march there. An ETA is shown before you confirm.
  • Recall — Click your own home marker and use “Recall Home” to walk back (faster than normal travel).
  • Instant Return — Spend shards to teleport home instantly.
  • Speed — Your paladin’s Speed stat slightly increases travel speed.

Health & Healing

Your paladin and your home each have HP (health points). When either is damaged, they regenerate automatically under certain conditions.

  • Paladin Healing — Your paladin heals when at home or near an ally’s base. Full healing takes about 2 minutes.
  • Home HP — Your home has separate HP. If enemy players attack your home and reduce it to 0, it’s destroyed.
  • Recovering — If your paladin’s HP hits 0, you’re defeated and must recover for 30 minutes before acting again.
  • While recovering, you’re immune to further attacks and sent back to your home automatically.

Combat & Attacks

You can attack enemy guild members or their homes directly from the map.

  • Attack a Player — Click or hover an enemy player/home, then click “Attack Member” or “Attack Home.” Your paladin marches to the target first, then fights on arrival.
  • Combat Power — Determined by your paladin’s Level, Attack, Defense, and Speed stats, weighted by current HP ratio. A random roll adds variance.
  • Winning — The winner deals damage to the loser’s paladin. If the attack was on a home, the home takes structure damage too.
  • No Shard Loss — You never lose shards from PvP. Only materials (wood, stone, food) can be lost.
  • Material Loss — If you’re defeated and killed, you may lose some of one material type. If your home is destroyed, you lose all stored materials (but upgrades/buildings are kept).
  • Scuffle — A visual pulse appears on the map when combat occurs.

Level 25 PvP Protection

New players (below level 25) are fully protected from PvP attacks. A glowing blue forcefield ring surrounds their home.

  • Protected players cannot be attacked by other players via direct combat, and their homes take no chip damage.
  • Protection ends permanently if you: attack another player, or reach level 25.
  • A warning is shown before your first attack so you know protection will be removed.
  • Important: Home defense turrets are passive — they will still fire at you even if you have PvP protection. Avoid enemy territory circles!

Home Defense

Your home automatically attacks nearby enemies! Home defense is a passive mechanic that fires regardless of PvP protection level. When enemy paladins enter your territory circle radius:

  • Your home splashes damage to all enemies in range every 3 seconds.
  • Enemies also chip your home’s HP in return (unless your home has a PvP protection forcefield).
  • A green shield badge appears on your home when defense is actively engaging enemies.
  • If an enemy is killed by home defense, they’re sent home to recover for 30 minutes.
  • Damage scales with your paladin’s level, attack, and defense stats — level up your paladin to strengthen your home!

Home Buildings & Economy

Click your own home marker and select “Manage Buildings” to access your home economy. Buildings generate resources passively every hour.

Resources: Shards, Wood, Stone, and Food — earned from buildings, missions, and loot.

Building Types:

  • Mine — Generates Shards (50/hr per level). Your main shard income building. Costs shards, wood, and stone to upgrade.
  • Farm — Generates Food (35/hr per level). Essential for keeping your paladin supplied. Costs shards and wood to upgrade.
  • Lumbermill — Generates Wood (30/hr per level). Needed for most building upgrades. Costs shards and stone to upgrade.
  • Quarry — Generates Stone (30/hr per level). Needed for advanced upgrades and fortifications. Costs shards and wood to upgrade.
  • Workshop — Generates Shards (20/hr per level). A secondary shard source with higher upgrade costs. Costs shards, wood, stone, and food.
  • Barracks — No direct resource income, but strengthens your home defense and paladin capabilities. Costs shards, wood, stone, and food.

All buildings have a max level of 5. Upgrade costs increase quadratically — plan your upgrades wisely!

Material Safety — Materials stored in your home economy can be lost if you’re defeated in combat while away from home. Return home regularly to secure your gains. Shards are never lost from PvP.

Missions

World missions appear on the map as scroll markers. Walk to one to claim it.

  • Claiming — First paladin to arrive claims the mission. It’s first-come, first-served.
  • Duration — Missions take time to complete (shown in the Mission Tracker panel on the map).
  • Stuck Missions — If a mission timer hits 0 and doesn’t resolve, a “Fix Stuck Mission” button appears.
  • You cannot move or attack while on a mission.
  • Rewards — Materials, XP, and other rewards are granted on completion.

Territories & Cities

The world map contains capturable cities. Guilds fight over these for bonuses.

  • Territory Circles — Each home projects a territory circle. You can’t place homes inside enemy territory.
  • City Capture — March your paladin to a city marker and attack to try capturing it for your guild.
  • Captured cities may grant resource bonuses or strategic advantages.

Paladin Stats

Your paladin has four core stats that affect everything from combat to travel:

  • Level — Increases with XP. Higher level = more HP, stronger attacks, better combat rolls.
  • Attack — Increases your combat power and home defense splash damage.
  • Defense — Increases your max HP and reduces damage taken.
  • Speed — Increases travel speed slightly and adds a small combat bonus.

View and upgrade your stats in the Stats tab.

Chat

Two chat panels are available on the map:

  • Guild Chat — Visible only to your guild members. Coordinate attacks, call for help, plan strategy.
  • Global Chat — Visible to all players on the map. Diplomacy, trash talk, or just say hello.

Live Events & Rallies

  • Live Events Panel — A collapsible panel on the map shows recent attacks, mission completions, and city captures in real time.
  • Rally — Guild leaders can set a rally point. Guild members see a banner and can march to it with one click.
